Getting Started with Bundle Chat

Follow these simple steps to activate your license and connect Bundle Chat to OpenRouter.

Step 1: Register and Activate Your License

First, you need an active Bundle Chat account to use the extension.

  1. Go to api.bundlechat.ai/register.
  2. Create your account and complete the license purchase.
  3. After successful payment, you will be redirected to your dashboard. The extension should activate automatically. If it doesn't, simply log in to your account on the website.
  4. Once activated, the extension's popup will unlock the main navigation and settings.

Step 2: Get Your OpenRouter API Key

Bundle Chat uses OpenRouter.ai to give you access to a wide range of AI models. You will need your own OpenRouter API key.

  1. Go to OpenRouter.ai and sign in or create an account.
  2. Navigate to the "Keys" section in your account dashboard.
  3. Click "Create Key," give it a name (e.g., "BundleChat"), and copy the generated key. Store it securely, as you will not be able to see it again.

Step 3: Set an API Spending Limit (Highly Recommended)

To prevent unexpected charges from OpenRouter, we strongly recommend setting a spending limit on your new API key.

  1. On the OpenRouter "Keys" page, find the key you just created.
  2. Set a "Limit" to a comfortable amount (e.g., $5). This protects you from accidental high usage.
  3. Note: Your API usage is billed by OpenRouter, not by Bundle Chat.

Step 4: Add the API Key to Bundle Chat

Finally, connect the extension to your OpenRouter key.

  1. Open the Bundle Chat extension by clicking its icon in your Chrome toolbar.
  2. In the popup, go to the "Settings" section.
  3. Find the field labeled "OpenRouter API Token".
  4. Paste your copied key into this field and click "Save".
  5. A "Token saved!" confirmation should appear, and the extension will fetch the available AI models.

Step 5: Start Chatting!

You're all set! Now you can open the chat sidebar from the extension popup or by right-clicking on a webpage to start analyzing text, images, and more.

Remember to select your preferred default text and vision models in the settings for the best experience!

Troubleshooting & FAQ

The extension says my license is not active, but I paid.

Please make sure you are logged into your account on bundlechat.ai. The extension activates automatically when you visit the site while logged in. If the problem persists, contact our support.

I get an "API Error" in the chat.

This usually means there is an issue with your OpenRouter key. Please check the following:

  • Ensure the API key is copied correctly without extra spaces.
  • Check your OpenRouter account to see if you have reached your spending limit or if you need to add credits.
  • Try creating a new API key on OpenRouter and use that one.
The model list is empty or says "Refresh in popup".

Bundle Chat needs a valid OpenRouter API key to fetch the list of available models. Please ensure your key is saved correctly in the settings. You can use the "Refresh List" button in the popup to try again.
